Sugar: Should I Give it Up?

Quitting sugar isn't easy. According to Next Avenue, there's actual scientific evidence on how sugar provides the same neurological rewards as some highly addictive drugs. Not only does sugar help you gain weight, eating too much of it can cause heart, neurological, and physical ailments too. The scariest part is that it's in almost everything. Even to the keenest eye, it can be hidden as fructose, corn syrup, or simple carbs.

However, if you can kick the habit, you'll notice a whole host of health benefits emerge. And in order to do so, you must be vigilant and ready to battle intense cravings. Next Avenue says that it's best to reduce sugar intake with the following dietary recommendations:

  • Healthy fats
  • Proteins
  • Complex carbohydrates
  • Cut out sodas and sugary drinks
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
